Besides the extra trains running in the east as mentioned before, the only other extra trains that will run over the Thanksgiving period will be on the Cascades Corridor.

On Wednesday 11/27/02 and Sunday 12/1/02 only, the two busiest travel days of the year, there will be one extra round trip operated between Seattle and Portland.

Train 505 will depart Seattle at 2:00 PM on those days, and arrive in Portland 6:15 PM. Note that this train will leave Seattle just 15 minutes after the regular 1:45 PM departure of Train 507; so obviously this is a relief train scheduled to handle the passenger loads where they are most expected. The same train will return north from Portland as 512, departing 7:00 PM and arriving in Seattle 11:15 PM. This is a relief train for regular 508, departing PDX just 45 minutes behind it.

The extra train will not use Talgo equipment, but rather a reserve consist of Horizon coaches that is used for baseball and football specials to Seattle. You can see that these extra trips take 4 hours 15 minutes, while the regularly scheduled runs using Talgos take 3 hours 30 minutes. What a difference a train makes!

In the Pacific Surfliner corridor, there will be a few extra trains running at peak travel times, particularly Wednesday and Sunday. What they are doing is scheduling a mixture of regular weekday trains and regular weekend trains to run on the same days -- so there are no specially numbered trains for this corridor.
