Hi,

I just found this group via another forum today. It should prove useful as the wife and I are planning more trips via Amtrak. We took an Amtrak escorted vacation to Glacier National Park last June on the Empire Builder and had a wonderful time. We were really lucky in that we were one of only 3 trains to get through westbound before the line was embargoed for a second time during the flooding in Minot. Interests are rail photography and model railroading among a host of others. As empty nesters, we're planning on getting out and seeing the country. IMO, no better way than on the train.

Hi Dave,

I took Amtrak to Glacier last summer, too. We were on one of the first trains to go once they resumed service after the flooding. We had lots of slow orders because of the flooding and ended up being 7 hours late to Glacier. Welcome to the group, you'll find nice people and lots of good information.

Since you will be traveling in Amtrak a lot. are you a member of Amtrak Guest Rewards (AGR) yet?

(AGR is similar to the airline's frequent flyer programs.) If not, send me a PM (Private Message - click on the envelope under my name) with BOTH your email addresses - each AGR account must have it's own email address - and I'll be glad to refer you to AGR! (Each person can only earn points for his of her own travel - otherwise those points are lost and go to no one at all!

Welcome Dave. I took Amtrak to West Glacier in late summer 2010. It was a great trip!
