Great Post All! When you retire from wheeling the truck Amtrak should hire you and Brenda as Roving Ambassadors for the LD Routes!

And BTW. With all the delays and poor OTP on the Zephyr Route folks are getting to see LNK and Omaha and the rest of Nebraska in the Daylight just like we did last year when #6 hit a Hurd of 45 grazing cattle near McCook and ran 8 hours late! As the OTOL gang said in another thread on the way to SLC, Nebraska looks just like Eastern Colorado! LOL

*** I have seen referenced several studies which suggest that automobile traffic and congestion increase somewhat exponentially with population density leading to the conclusion that enough roads cannot be built to handle traffic and other alternatives need to be found.
Yeah. Roads & cars are a good solution for transportation in low-density rural areas (where congestion will always be low). But they are just not suitable as the major transportation mode for cities, whether you're going within the city, from one city to another, or from a rural area to a city (that last calls for outlying suburban "park and rides"). Cars & roads don't *scale up* well. Trains, on the other hand, scale up really well. (They don't scale down well.)
