We're heading to Chicago next week on the Capital Limited. We have two bedrooms each way - from DC to Chicago and back...

It's my wife and I in one BR, and my daughter and her husband in another bedroom (plus their one year old baby). She is planning to bring a Graco Pack n' play which is like a small playpen/crib... Fits on a floor and it folds up for storage. That is where their child will sleep. We are nit sure if it will fit in the bedroom. When it's open for use it measures about 39" long by about 33" wide.

Will that fit in a bedroom... if you fold up the chair and we do not fold out the bottom bunk/sofa? Also, can you remove the chair? If so, how big is the open space?

Thanks!!

Mike

Lots of prior threads, I'm digging now:

This one was successful with a smaller P&P, but they never came back and posted the dimensions we so desperately seek:

If you have a small one, it'll fit:

On the CL super liner and the Greco Pack And Play Travel Lite fits wonderfully in bed room D with room to open the bathroom door and store two big backpacks, a sizable diaper bag and hefty purse. *when the bed is in couch mode.

(I quoted the name so others can find this answer through Google search)

This is a delightful journey! Thanks for the support!

Well Andrew has arrived and the trip on the Auto Train was a grand success. Andrew slept in a travel size version of a pack and play (actually a Travel Crib by Graco which is 24" X 33") which worked fine. His mother slept in the lower bed but it was not extended into a full size bed. That gave them plenty of room for the pack and play and they could access the toilet which was a concern with limited floor space.

So I am posting this update for those who may have similar questions about traveling with a toddler.

The chair cannot be removed as it is attached to the wall.

It has been a while since I have been in a bedroom. I do not think a pack n play would fit. If it does it would just fit barely. The room is only 6 ft 6 inches wide, so you are taking up about half the width. Also, the shower capsule takes up a big part of the interior, so I am not sure it would fit lengthwise either.

At least on some rooms, the chair can be removed, as it sits on a post:

I have also seen this pic

and a number of youtube videos-but can't figure dimensions from it/them.

Again, THANK YOU so much for all the help!!
That was my pic. Perhaps this one with the bed down will help if you combine the two pics. The yellow bag base is 24 inches long and 12 inches wide. The bag is expanded to about 24 L x 16 W x 10 H inches as shown. The lap top is 11" wide x 10" long. Keep in mind that there normally is a folding chair on a post in the corner where the bag is shown.

Wow - Thanks for all the help. We will look through all of this. It looks like the best bet is to obtain the smaller size "travel version."

It looks like you could actually fit the full size Pack n' Play on the lower mattress. Obviously you kind of loose a bed in the process. But it appears to fit there...

BTW - the Pack n Play is 29 inches tall. How much room is between the lower bunk and the upper bunk?

We've had one of these. Ours had the bassinet, which was nice but had a 15 lb limit. So the bassinet was basically unusable once our kid was about 3 months old. The other issue would be stability. It's designed to be placed on a reasonably rigid surface. It's got wheels on one end, legs on the other, and folding legs in the middle.

The Travel Lite was mentioned, but I don't think that's recommended for sleeping with a child who can get on hands and knees. It's basically a smaller play-yard at that point.

Still - I remember checking into a hotel and asking for a couple of cribs for my kid and my wife's niece. All the hotel had was the Graco Commercial Port-A-Crib. That's basically a commercial version of the Pack 'N Play without wheels.
