I just heard from a family member is south central Iowa that in Ottumwa some of the low lying areas are being evacuated.

I know that the BNSF line that trains 5 and 6 operate on is very close to the river. This was announced after todays train 5 left. Will this cause a possible detour? If anyone has any updates about Amtrak service please post as I have relatives booked for Thursday.

Thanks

Most of the time when 5/6 detour in Iowa, it's across the mid northern part of the state on UP trackage. Clinton, Cedar Rapids, Ames, then going down and getting back on the BNSF mainline in the Council Buffs area. I don't know what towns will be effected in Illinois, and I believe to is about the same travel time on the detour as the normal route. Others will add more.
