Maybe not right on the platform, but many stations do have PO collection boxes at the stations. Maybe right outside the front door. (But of course, watch the time. The train could leave without you!

On CL and TE routes are there any mail boxes on the platforms, or postal services in stations? A neat collection would be postal cancellations from every stop along the way. Here's an eBay link to train-related US postage items

Most stations do not have mail boxes on the platform and as noted above, if you go to the box outside the station you run the risk of missing the departure of your train. One thing you could do, if you really want cancellations from all the stops along the route, is to send a self-addressed stamped envelope - to each of the post offices of the cities along the route and ask them to cancel the stamp and send back to you. Just enclose it in an envelope addressed to the Post Master of each city. Similar to what people to with Santa Claus, Indiana at Christmas time.

I've had good luck with simply handing stamped letters to ticket agents and asking them to put them in their outgoing mail. But as noted above, make sure you don't miss your train doing this.
