I recently made my reservations for next year on the Autotrain. I paid for the reservations by using my AGR Master Card. What surprised me was that two bonus points for every dollar the tickets cost me was just posted into my AGR account. Well, it didn't really surprise me because it was used for an Amtrak purchase!

What actually did surprised me is that, this means that after I travel next year, I will be receiving 2 rail points for every dollar spent.

So, the bottom line is that you can actually receive 4 points per dollar spent on Amtrak travel! Nice!

GET YOUR CC, GET YOUR RED HOT AGR CC!

Yes, it's great to earn essentially 4 points/$ for buying tickets with the AGR credit card!

What some don't realize is - although they know all other purchases earn 1 point/$, they may not realize that ANY purchaes that are coded as Amtrak also earn 2 points/$! This includes things like

  • meals in the dining car (assuming you went coach and actually had to pay)
appetizers and alcoholic beverages that you have with your meal
    snacks from the cafe
stuff you bought in the PPC
    etc, etc ...

So burn a hole in your AGR MC on the train! :D
