For those who prefer to stay off the roads, Amtrak is adding an extra car to each train on the Milwaukee-to-Chicago Hiawatha line from Wednesday through Sunday, and extra cars to the Chicago-to-Twin Cities leg of the Empire Builder, which continues on to the Pacific Northwest, said Marc Magliari, an Amtrak spokesman in Chicago. Wednesday is the national passenger railroad's busiest day of the year, with above-average traffic from today through Monday

I took one of these trains last Friday just to see what was going on.

The Hiawatha was running with its' normal 4 coaches and a snack/first class car.

However, there was no food service at the usual counter (the LSA still used the push cart)... and anyone could sit in the "business" class seats. Kinda interesting! I wish they'd offer those cafe and business cars between Chicago and Milwaukee on a regular basis!
