Is it possible to have a redcap come to the Flyaway LAUS arrival point?

I realize that they wouldn't want to wait there for the bus to arrive, but am wondering if there is a phone, or person who would be able to call one.

We have never used an Amtrak redcap, but unfortunately, this trip we will have mobility issues that will need to be taken into consideration.

(I did use the search function, but couldn't find one that addressed Flyaway arrival at LAUS.)

Thank you.

I'm not sure about other times of the day, but when the SL/TE arrives ~5 am, there are only 2 (TWO) Red Caps on duty at LAUS. Thus if one was to wait for the Flyaway bus across the station from Amtrak, there would only be 1 to help Amtrak passengers. Those Red Caps are Amtrak employees. While they may (I really don't know if they do) help Metrolink passengers, I would not expect them to help the competition across the station.

Are the conveniently :p located elevators at the entrance from the transit plaza able to handle the redcap's electric carts? Mrs SP&S's knees are shot (surgery very soon) but fortunately we were able to walk from the bus to the track and just wait there rather than go in to the lounge and then back to the platform.

I'm reading it as needed a red cap to get from the bus to the train/lounge

I've had a Red Cap offer to take me (in the cart) FROM the waiting room right to the Flyaway bus (it helps that I have a disability and maybe he wasn't too busy) but I've never had a reason to go the opposite direction. So I really don't know.

Thank you for all of your responses.

We'll have a roomette on the CS to Seattle ... so we plan on catching the Flyaway to the station early in the morning. We may just have to walk VERY SLOWLY!

I think you've identified a situation none of us have experienced before. I would recommend calling Amtrak, preferably the Los Angeles station staff, and seeing what they have to say about it.

Am I assuming correctly that when the Chief gets in in the morning there are sufficient red caps to get folks to the Starlight? I am rather counting on this,,,

Last time I was there there was an intercom at the Flyaway bus stop to the Amtrak office. It's also possible to use a cellphone to call them. They are supposed to be able to get you a redcap.

Unfortunately, on one occasion, it took OVER AN HOUR without one showing up, after I contacted the office TWICE. I was escorting a disabled passenger so we needed it. After we finally started limping along the concourse, I ran into a redcap doing something else halfway down the concourse. I yelled at him. He insisted on finishing whatever crap he was doing and then came back and picked us up from the middle of the concourse. He was very solicitous after that but obviously didn't get a tip because he hadn't done his job.

I then spoke to the woman at the Amtrak office in person and told her what had happened and asked to file a complaint. She was shocked (she had apparently asked the redcaps to get us twice, as you would expect) and did file a complaint.

Anyway, the Red Caps are supposed to be able to help disabled passengers, but... good luck!

It is nice to know that there is a "plan" to get a redcap to the Flyaway stop. It sounds as though, as usual, the "plan" doesn't always seem to work.

It may be less of a hassle to just catch SuperShuttle from the airport. I did see an offer of a "execu car" for @$45 .. less stress and drop off closer to luggage check-in.

I do appreciate everyone comments and responses ... thank you.
