River Runner delay

On the River Runner last month the freight train ahead lost its brakes. We sat behind them for 5 hours until AMTRAK finally sent a bus to finish the last 20 miles to K.C downtown. Never a word was spoken by the crew until the bus was on the way.

Bummer. As for the onboard crew not saying anything -- they probably didn't know much more than "red light, stop signal, what's ahead of us?" "dead freight ahead, don't know what or how the freight will deal with it".

As for Amtrak finding charter buses on short notice, they can often do it, but sometimes it's not possible.
