I read the following article this morning dealing with a case Amtrak lost that dealt with getting priority over freight trains:

http://www.delawareonline.com/article/20130708/NEWS15/307080057/Amtrak-barred-from-regulating-freight-railroads-delays?nclick_check=1

I really do not have a good grasp on what tangible effect this verdict will have on Amtrak. Is this a big deal, or is it low-impact? I have no doubt many of you have a better understanding of the repercussions than I do. How would this impact Amtrak trains operate in high freight traffic locations?

This is being discussed elsewhere. See "Court: Penalties..." In this forum. (I can't provide the link right now, it's not working for me.) Please continue the discussion there.

EDIT: Link in post #2.
