What a great idea! I hope it encourages people to be more careful around trains. I wonder what Vintage Cars they are going to use?
UP usually uses their bright yellow cars that have been seen all over the country! Perhaps a dome and/or a business car will be included! Wish theyd do this down here in Central Texas, the last one they ran was through East Texas via HOS to the Valley and only RailRoad and VIPs got to ride! What a great idea! I rode UP 3985 back in the late 80's/early 90's from FTW-HOS! So I guess that makes me a VIP! (And don't forget it! )through East Texas via HOS to the Valley and only RailRoad and VIPs got to ride!
UpdateI may have to run up there and take a look myself.
They sure went fast!!!!WOW!!I knew there'd be no way I'd get one of the free tickets, but I still might take a look at the train anyway.

I was on board when this video was taken on that trip:UP usually uses their bright yellow cars that have been seen all over the country! Perhaps a dome and/or a business car will be included! I rode many of these "Officer Special" and Operation Lifesaver trains as part of my job at the UP. They usually like to use the train either after or before (deadheading to/from an origination point) an officers inspection tour and are great PR tools. I would give Operation Lifesaver presentations and escort Dreams Come True kids and their families. It was a neat job and the PR that it created was priceless.
