Local news report from 1st of February: public consultation period about to begin to determine local resident's opinions on two proposed routes for the Skytrain.

Despite the picture of a tram from Strasbourg in France behind the newsreader (!) it was announced at the press conference that the new line would use Skytrain technology instead of light rail. Higher construction costs, but lower running costs and presumably easier integration to the existing system.

I read that a couple of days ago. That's a good move. For a while, they had been proposing a light-rail system, but that would force a transfer for passengers wanting to get anywhere.

Truthfully, they ought to go with SkyTrain or not build it at all.

This will enable passengers to travel from the Northeast Sector (Coquitlam) all the way to UBC. Wish that'd been built when I lived out there.
