About 56,000 right now...the most I ever had was (IIRC) about 140,000, right before I started 'spending' for the '09 gathering (redemptions and transfers to Choice for my BOS, WAS, and PHL hotels).

The little typo aside (I assume you meant 4/25): AGR blackout dates related to holidays are almost always dates around the holiday, but not the holiday itself. Easter is such a holiday (aside: nice separation of church and state, there, Amtrak! :P ).

The cab car is a special car set aside for passengers arriving at stations by taxi ('cab')...there are often lots of them. The engineers look in front of the train by putting their heads out the side windows of the locomotive. This obviously works best when the train curves towards that side...

I apologize for the quality of the video, but here is a video of a Capitol Corridor train on the Embarcadero, approaching OKJ from the north, taken on my recent trip.

*nod* Trainsets that serve SAN (there's a single one that doesn't, but that's outside the scope of this thread) are pulled away from LAX and pushed toward LAX. So northbound, the cab car is at the front before LAX, and at the back after. *away from...

Sleeping and train movement aren't at the same time, but a fairly inexpensive overnight on a PV is through Pullman Adventures, which every couple months or so attaches Pacific Sands (an old UP 10-6) to an early Saturday LAX-SAN PS, overnights at SAN (and passengers sleep onboard), and comes back...

And chased 775 to SLO. I witnessed a lot of annoyed and confused people at VNC as a result. :)

I took both of them in my roomette on my my recent trip. :blush: I even brazenly told the SCA about it as I detrained, and she was really tickled by it.

...and of course there's always been Union Bagel. Over the weekend I noticed that there will soon be a Starbucks. Good thing...Union Bagel has good bagels, but their coffee is utter swill.
