President Trump thinks like a businessman and not a politician. He will most likely push for cuts to those routes loosing money. Same goes for other federal programs loosing too much money. He said he's going to drain the swamp and that includes spending. Elections have consequences but...
States on the left coast would continue to fund rail service. It might not be Amtrak but they would fund. Same with the east coast. Where you're likely to loose service is the desolately populated small towns in fly over country.
AGR doesn't allow a connection in Emmeryville with the Coast Starlight and California Zephyr. For some STUPID reason they only allow the connection in Sacramento. Just thought you should know about that.
It sounds like the point for dollar redemption is a better deal than the old zone map redemption. For example, if I want to travel CHI to SEA one way on the Empire Builder at a roomette price say of $ 422.00 (I picked this just now from the Amtrak site for January 2016 travel) it would be...

I hope this isn't going to pack em into the Parlour Car  They really should have stripped the seats out of the lower level "movie theatre" which is rarely used and installed bench seats or swivel chairs. The PPC needs more seating.
I've been riding LD sleeper class for about 7 years. The most memorable SCA I ever had was on the California Zephyr when I took my elderly father from Emmeryville to Chicago. She decorated up the hallway and coffee area. Very friendly and helpful to my Dad. Made sure he was comfortable. She...
Yeah, my question was way too broad but I have picked up a few things I like from all your responses. And, I think I'll need 2 days in D.C.
Thank you!!
