    Northeast Corridor Rant

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm still an Amtrak fan, it just seems to be troublesome how many unhappy riders there are on the NEC, and how their meeting scheduled times is becoming less and less common, from all I hear and from what I've experienced. They are chasing customers away, but also...

    Northeast Corridor Rant

Returned last night from a week's trip to Maine, taking the Downeaster from Portland, ME to Boston, and then taking another train from Boston to Richmond. It was a LONG day of transit. The NEC train was already behind schedule, maybe 45 minutes or so, when we stopped completely on the tracks...

Will my 25 X 19 X 9 inch rolling suitcase fit in the overhead storage

I got this piece of luggage to take on my trip on the NORTHEAST CORRIDOR, but when it arrived I was surprised just how big it is (though I knew the dimensions, I didn't have the best mental image of them, I guess). I'm really hoping I can squeeze it into the overhead area as I'd hate to leave...

Richmond VA to Portland ME points redemption question

Much belated thanks for your replies. I did eventually make that call and it was a quick and painless process, as you promised. I leave on my trip in less than two weeks. Thanks!

Richmond VA to Portland ME points redemption question

Ah, I was afraid of that, thanks. Hopefully it's a pretty painless and quick thing over the phone (I've never had need to call them)!

Richmond VA to Portland ME points redemption question

I'm going to use my rewards points to take a summer trip from Richmond VA to Portland ME. The train stops at Boston and I board the Downeaster from there to Portland. I'm not sure how to book this using my points on the Rewards website. Will I have to book Richmond to Boston as a trip, and...

"Pay as you Stay" rooms... do they pay the website bonus per d

UPDATE: Happily the full bonus has finally arrived in my account! I had figured it wouldn't happen. :)

"Pay as you Stay" rooms... do they pay the website bonus per d

Well, Amtrak Rewards told me to contact Priceline about this, and Priceline replied that I needed to contact Amtrak Rewards about this. Sigh.

    Quiet Car Question

I've rode the Quiet Car once and loved it, and hope to to ride it again Monday. Dumb question: I know people like to sleep, relax on car but do they go so far as to want the shades pulled down so the sun doesn't disturb them? I do want to watch out the window(s) and if most people have them...

Richmond VA to Boston, MA - On which side would you sit?

Taking the Northeast Corridor train from Richmond to Boston on Monday (and back later in the week). I'm torn what side gives me the better view. The right side, facing the ocean, seems like the no-brainer, with the many water views. But then the left side gives you views of the land, perhaps...

Well, I'll let you guys know in a few weeks or more in case some future person finds the info of use.

"Pay as you Stay" rooms... do they pay the website bonus per d

Just booked a hotel on Priceline, from the Amtrak Rewards credit card website portal ($4 for every $1 spent). But it's a "Pay as you Stay" room, meaning they don't charge me until I'm there and give them my credit card. Will I lose out on the 4/1 bonus offered by the Guest Rewards website?

    Redeeming points for giftcard

I'm considering redeeming some of my points for a B&N $100 giftcard since I haven't taken the train in a while. (I know most of you don't order these and prefer the bigger value of train travel redemptions). Anyway, I wondered a couple of things. I'm assuming they will mail you a physical...

Quik Trak Promotion - When do points post?

Despite clearly pointing out my request, AGR's only email reply is to call them up or visit their website... I guess they like to make it difficult (difficult if you prefer to do this stuff via the internet) in hopes I'll not follow through with my points request. I'll call later...

Quik Trak Promotion - When do points post?

Ah, glad I asked. I just emailed AGR about it. Think they'll respond or should I have called? We'll see what happens.

Quik Trak Promotion - When do points post?

I know these things take a while, but has anybody received the bonus points for the Quik Trak Promotion yet? That was the promotion that gave you bonus points if you used the Quik Track to print your tickets. Just wondering when I might expect them.

    Earn Points for using Quik-Trak

Thanks KayBee. :D I'm taking the train to Philly in May, so this is perfect timing. It let me register on the website, so I'm assuming I'll get the 250.

    Expiring AGR Points Question

Thanks for all the replies. Glad I'm not the only one slightly confused... I wish they'd let you know on the AGR site when your points are due to expire, but oh well. Paying for one trip every three years should be pretty easy to remember.

    Expiring AGR Points Question

I never realized AGR points would expire (i.e. vanish!) if you don't travel on Amtrak for 36 months. Seems a bit unfair in my opinion, as you earned those points and they're yours. Of course, I won't go three years without traveling Amtrak, but in a perfect world I might actually go three...
