Last Saturday "Train Status" (Amtrak's website train #1) said there was going to be a long delay due to a vehicle incident at a crossing. Location was just outside Vinton, LA. I have not been able to find any mention of the accident.

It appears that recently at least one consist of the SL has an additional coach added from LAX to NOL. Maybe Beech Grove is actually getting some cars back on the tracks. The SL needs another sleeper or transition sleeper asap.

If so, it's probably because someone finally realized it is more cost effective to add a unit rather than risk the cost result of a single unit having mechanical problems, which results in busing and/or cancelation, and is occurring more often.
