The 1998 order for 8 more P32AC-DMs were the first ones painted into the Phase IV "Northeast Direct" Scheme.

Of the first order of 10 (700-709) 3 are left in their original Phase III fade out paint schemes - 700, 706, 707. The rest have been repainted into the new phase V.

I have not seen one in phase III for a LONG time. I have noticed on some of the Phase 4 repaints that a small section of the eletrical equipment box, behind the cab, still has the three stripes.

There are still around though. Trainpictures.net has a picture of an Empire Service train taken just this past week being lead by 706 still in phase III. Sharp lookin unit still!

Albany-Renesslaer shops is the primary home for maintenence for the AC-DM's. Ocasionally if they have trouble with it in Albany the locomotive will be sent to New Orleans or Chicago (Chicago is the main diesel hub) for repair.

Agreed Viewliner, but to answer his question, 8 DMs are in the Phase IV Northeast Direct scheme, numbers 710-717.
