I realize this forum is NOT Amtrak, but so many of you who read and post often know better than Amtrak Agents themselves...........All you Amtrak Unlimited people really do have an extraordinary wealth of knowledge...........
Soooooo....here goes........
I requested to change my roomette because of a screaming kid in the next roomette. The train was just pulling out of WAS. Amtrak agent charged me $128.00 JUST TO CHANGE ROOMETTE. I agreeded at the time because I wanted away from the screaming kid and before I lost the cell connection.
I looked around at the additional 2 sleeper cars AND "Dorm" car on the Capitol Limited I was on and there had to be at least 10 or more empty roomettes and several empty bedrooms at that point.
I know things get sold "down the road" but arriving in CHI there were still plenty of the original empty roomettes empty and clearly never used.
Does this sound right to you Amtrak Unlimited Veteran Riders????
I'm asking here before wasting time on a call to Amtrak if people here write back and say, "Yea, That's what Amtrak does if you want to change a roomette, even if it's on the same train"............
THANKS!! to all who care to write back and post your opinions and advice. Sincerly appreciated.........HARHBG
