Check Me On This: Acela 1st, Two 750 Point Awards?

I have to travel from Boston to Baltimore on the 26th.

I see that Boston South/BackBay to DC, in Acela 1st class earns 750 points

But, If I break it up, and do Boston Back-Bay to NYP on Acela 2173, arriving NYP at 7:45pm.

"Layover" at NYP until 9:05pm, then hop Acela 2175, ticketed to DC, (but jump off at Baltimore Penn) each segment should get me 750 points, yes?

I forgot, are these Acela "Bonus Points" TQP points?

Yes, if you do the "layover" at NYP, both segments would earn 750 points! (Note that if you're using upgrade coupons, you only get the BC earning of 500 points per segment.) And those are TQPs!

Not using any coupons either, just e-vouchers, so "same as cash".

I should add that on 2173 and 2175 coming from BOS you only get one meal.... But splitting the trip would get you two meals!!

I'd recommend booking it using the Multi-City ticketing. It should be much cheaper.

I did check that, and the total was $309 vs. $504! I had run it thru "multi-city" earlier, but when I was on the phone with the AGR agent, her total came out to $504 too.

However, I'm prolly gonna canx the whole Amtrak shooting match as its:

SWA: Manchester to BWI = $73.

Flight time = 1 hour 40 minutes, adding 1 hour 30 minutes for travel to and security.

Total time = 3 hours 20 minutes

(I'm closer to Manchester Airport, than I am to BBY, and I live only 7 minutes away from BWI)

Acela Express 1st Class: BBY to BWI-Rail = $309

Travel time = 6 hours 30 minutes, adding 1 hour for travel to BBY

Total time = 7 hours 30 minutes

I like trains, but not for a price difference of $236, and 4 hours and 10 minutes, even though it's 1st class..

Southwest Airlines, here I come again..........................
