The shared showers are very good when you are sharing it with your partner! It also saves water!
In all seriousness, I've seen the Amtrak showers clean and also pretty dirty. Not everyone is perfectly neat, some are just plain slobs, but most people don't make a mess. Everything considered I would say that the cleanliness of Amtrak showers is on par with what you would find in a hotel lobby restroom. Don't forget the flip flops!
