Just spotted an interesting article on Amtrak in the New York Times. They say Amtrak is expecting to implement WiFi (for free) on the Acela and Regional next year - something I think is long overdue. It's mostly run of the mill stuff, but there's some interesting tidbits - Amtrak is working on a new reservations system, for instance, but it won't be ready till 2015.

Did anyone notice that the photo in the article has a switch locomotive on the end? :huh:

Yup. I feel that nearly every photo that's published in the media either has outdated equipment or something that's just not representative of a typical passenger train (like having a switcher attached). I rarely ever see a shot of a P-42/AEM-7/HHP-8 and a bunch of Amfleets or Superliners.
