I just realized that even the Select/S+ upgrade certs have blackout dates listed on them--presumably the same dates as for award travel. I presume these are strictly enforced by the reservation system? Any luck with station or club agents waiving the restriction when there's plenty of J/F space available?

I get the need to have blackout dates for redemptions as there are no capacity controls. But the upgrades are already controlled to 12 or 48-hour windows. A bit disappointed to see that blackouts may apply.

Yes they are strict with those. I gave certs to my in laws last year and when they went to the station at new haven to use them, they were informed that they couldn't bc they were traveling on a blackout date. It was the 27th or 28th o December IIRC that they wanted to use them. Plenty of seats were available in FC bc it would allow me to buy 8 of the tix online.
