Not usually. Some stations have them inside the station, but you have to be VERY careful, can watch the time - because the train can leave without you if you're not aboard!

One stop that's easily reachable is the Grand Junction, CO stop on the CZ. There is a store inside the station - used mainly by CZ passengers - selling drinks. snacks, books and other stuff.

The stop is long enough for you to browse somewhat, and they announce the train!

The Fisherman's Wharf "bus stop" is just that - a bus stop! There probably will be taxis around, but (especially returning), I would go and depart from the Ferry Building (SFC), it has ticket agents, checked baggage service and a waiting room. All other SF "bus stops" are just bus stops (BTW: You do not need to change your tickets from one SF stop to another SF stop. They are accepted at any SF stop.)

They sell souvenir Amtrak postcards in the lounge car on the CZ, as well as Amtrak playing cards and sometimes other souvenir items (baseball caps, etc). Note that they frequently sell out of souvenirs over the course of the trip, and if you really want them, buy them soon after departure.

Congratulations Emmy ... what an accomplishment!

I second the_traveler regarding the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Seats, restrooms, checked baggage and an indoor place to wait if it's raining.

We always seem to arrive in SFC on a Saturday morning, and there is a large outdoor "farmers market" right next door ... if you're departing from there on a Saturday morning be sure to make time for it. It seems to be a very busy market ... next time I hope to LEAVE from there, so that I can visit it, too.
