The MBTA board is set to vote today on a long-awaited contract to extend Boston’s commuter rail service to the T.F. Green Airport in Rhode Island - which should make it easier for Massachusetts travelers to use the popular alternative to Logan International Airport.

Comment in response (link in KayBee's post):

This Green Airport service needs to be taken with a big grain of salt. The concept is to use existing trains with existing cars and simply send them on a one hour loop to Wickford and back. In order to do this, Aloisi is now proposing to skip over some Massachusetts stops in order to make up some lost time on its way the the Airport.
THERE IS NO WAY THE PEOPLE OF MASSACHUSETTS WOULD EVER AGREE TO THIS CONCEPT, AT LEAST I HOPE SO!

Everybody needs to understand that there are no new trains or cars and that this is a commuter service from Rhode Island to Boston and back and not a true rail link to the planes at Green, unless you want to stay overnight at a hotel in Warwick.
Other commenters seem to be equally skeptical of the plan.
