The U.S. Department of Transportation recently approved Amtrak’s business plan for the remainder of fiscal-year 2003 and executed the national passenger railroad’s grant agreements.
However, USDOT officials warned Amtrak to manage its finances as mandated.
This is good news, :) as baring any unusual problems; Amtrak will receive all the monies Congress authorized. With Amtrak receiving all of the funding, other than the few changes and cancellations already announced, all other long distance trains are safe thru October of this year. After that of course, we get to go through getting more money out of Congress once again. :(

Good deal. Glad I made my plans for August, just to be safe!!
Well, as long as it lasts past New Years, I'll be ok, as we've already booked our sleeper, leaving on Christmas Day on the Star, I believe.
