At times there are several Amfleet/Horizon cars used on the Pacific Surfliner and Cascades service. Are these cars ever rotated to the East Coast/Midwest and used for services in and around Chicago and/or the Northeast Corridor?

Amfleet/Horizon are only ever used on the Cascades corridor during Thanksgiving and Leavenworth Snow train excursions in earlier December, beyond that Amfleets/Horizon are almost never seen in the PNW. Even when a Talgo set is down for maintenance, for which Superliners are subbed.

The equipment will get rotated from California back to the Midwest/East Coast when due for certain mechanical inspections for which other shops are better equipped than LA, OAK or SEA.

You even see Surfliners rotated in/out of Beech Grove every once in a while.
