Oregon City welcomes the whistle of Amtrak

I've used the Cascades out of Oregon City at least 4 times in the past 10 days already... On time, except 1 hour late in, and 45 minutes late out on 2 separate trips.

    houston accident

After receiving repairs, 207 is now back to regular duty as of a couple days ago. Headed east on the Sunset Limited from Houston.

    houston accident

Reported P42DC 207 and 116 were involved, ultimately 207 could no longer continue, and 116 operated solo.

    Phase VI Program Continues

Really, there is no official guideline to the phases, since it would not be consistent with what we say today. I consider it Phase IVb because it's simply Phase IV, with the lettering relocated, and the red stripe added. That's extremely similar to the revision done to Phase V, remove some...

    Phase VI Program Continues

This is the only big forum I see it referring it as Phase VI, whereas everywhere else refers it as Phase IVb. I'm a Phase IVb guy, since it really isn't a brand new phase, just a revised IV.

    Where oh where is #207

P42DC 207 on tonight's Southwest Chief #4, along with locomotives 70 and 87. Departed Los Angeles on time.

    About Amtrak's GG1s.

Some GG1s have been preserved at various of locations -- The most spruced up one I think is at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay Wisconsin. A GG1 side-by-side with BigBoy steamer in a climate-controlled building. This museum is definitely worth checking out! A pic: Pic of GG1 and BigBoy

    Santa Barbara to Reno

Ummm 502 is 2052... Did you mean 500 or 507? They're in the bay area. Attempted trace, ARROW doesn't have any info that far back. Good report though!

    Westbound Sunset & Eastbound Chief

If you get a rebuilt Sleeper, you're likely to get new cushions for the seats and bedding. I slept like a baby for 11 hours on a recent Starlight trip... Took the Zephyr and Chief last September, and everything was great. The thing that sucks now, no complimentary drinks, so I just brought some...

    Where oh where is #207

Last I checked on ARROW, 207 was bad-ordered due to traction motor problems. I can't recall specifically, but believe it was shuttled to Chicago last week...

    Portland railroad museum

I won't confirm nor deny that assumption. :D You all got the info correct, it's a rather hard to reach location. Even I have to walk on the tracks to get to the Roundhouse from my normal route -- It's best for newcomers to get in touch with somebody for an escort through the intermodal yard...

    Where oh where is #207

It's on train #822 today, the "Heartland Flyer" between FTW and OKC. In the consist is some ex-Santa Fe hi-levels, and cabcar NPCU #90229. Been running the Flyer since January 25th. Hope this helps -- If you don't mind me asking, why is "207" your particular favorite? Is it just because it's...

    More Michigan Service Woes

Locos #26 thru #37 and #128 are ITCS fitted for working Michigan routes from Chicago IL, which explains why they rarely leave the corridor. Once the Phase III P42s are BADLY OVERDUE for their overhaul, that's when they'll be called to Beech Grove for complete overhaul and rebuild/repaint...

    Amtrak E60MAs.

F40 #231 was the second F40 to be officially preserved. #281 was the first, and both of these F40s were preserved before the E60 #603 was. From what it seems, F40 #281 appears to be the first Amtrak-bought locomotive to a museum. http://www.f40phr231.org/

    How much do Viewliners weigh?

Buddy of mine emailed me that question. Figured I'd help him... (I know member Viewliner's around here somewhere!) :)

    Steam Train Rides in Portland

Steve_relei got it right, however, "Samtrak" no longer runs. It quit 2 years ago. What we did on June 28th, was do the same thing Samtrak did, except with a real locomotive! :D SP 4449 and SP&S 700, a few more cars, was a blast!

    Steam Train Rides in Portland

Umm, Samtrak doesn't run anymore. However, we'll be using their cars... F40 #231 will also be down there. Should be a lot of fun!

    Stupid Question re: Talgo Trainset

Just the Amtrak Cascades, between Vancouver B.C. and Eugene, OR through Portland and Seattle.

    Hiball F40PHR #231!

It's being stored in SE Portland. I am a volunteer for the Friends of 4449, and I'm donating the engine to that group. See www.4449.com for more info and pictures. The roundhouse is not open to the public, so private tours have to be made, particularly due to being on private property. The...
