I'm looking to travel from an unstaffed station in November. I'd like to reserve now, to get the low bucket price. But, since the travel is from an unstaffed station, the only options for delivery listed on the website is snail mail or express mail.

Is there a way to purchase tickets today, but not have them printed / mailed until several months from now? In case my travel plans change?

If your station is unstaffed, it will automatically mail it to you at no additional charge if you book. If you decide to book ticket(s) online and don't want to have Amtrak to mail it to you, only way is to call immediately after you book the ticket online. You can pick the tickets up at other staffed stations or Quiktrak anytime before departure or by calling the reservation to have them mail at least two weeks prior to departure.

As said, you will have to call 1-800-USA-RAIL, either at first or ASAP after booking online (before they get printed and mailed out)! You can then pick them up at ANY manned station or QT. (You don't have to specify one.)

Thanks, everyone, I will just call to book & ask them to hold the ticket. Then when we get closet to travel time will either ask them to snail mail or I will pick up from a QT station.

Let's slightly modify the question: I am planning on traveling tomorrow from an unstaffed station. My tickets options are what.

And, if I am unable to get to a staffed station, what do I bring with me to board.

Some unstaffed stations also have "conductor delivery" options, where conductors will receive the tickets from a prior (staffed) station, and when you board, the conductor will have your ticket available for you.

Note, that's only for *some* unstaffed stations.
