I have just noticed in the past month that amtrak ontime running is alot better, the CZ is typically only 2 hours late now into lincoln from denver instead of the 4 it was typically running all summer. idk. New president maybe.

Well Amtrak only runs 14 acela sets per day out of 19 or 20 i believe, soo if they start running the fleet to capacity or even near capacity ... i can see problems with broken down trains here lol.

so they are going to stop useing the old electric ASEA AEM-7 in favor of all HHP-8's or are they going to all Acela Express Trainsets. Either way, arnt going to have to buy more equipment, and where exactly are the getting this money?

Is the city of NO paying amtrak to store the cars there i wonder. I thought when the NO's mayor ask amtrak about this they basically laughed him out the window because they didnt have the spare fleet to do such a thing. I guess that is where the FRA waivers come into play.

On my way trip to chicago i had the change to sample both dinner and lunch in the dining car. Lunch = Burger that definately felt and tasted zaped in a microwave. No fries, not even an option as a side order, which i really think amtrak needs to add. Overall a 40 dollar meal that tasted like it...

OK this is just stupid, Penn station has always been intercity rail with grand central being commuter, atleast since amtraks inception. This is NOT what the late Moynihan invisioned when it wanted a new Penn Station Built. The money should have been given to amtrak in grant form and NJtransit...

OH that is nuts ... Amtrak needs to own that station.

Well, when i got to union station i took some pictures of the grand waiting room and all, but all and all, i noticed the station is by far to crowded and needs alot of work done and new space. They have alot of space but they keep people in this small crapped waiting room while waiting to board...
