    Trespasser

Thank you for sharing this. I also like to have an idea of what's going on during such an emergency, and it gives me an idea of what's expected from me as well.

    Empire Builder

For those of us traveling on the EB this summer, what, if anything, does this mean realistically? I can't follow all the jargon, I haven't entirely caught on yet.

    discounted tickets

My daughter didn't need her own AAA membership? Why does it ask for her AAA number instead of putting hers on my discount?

    discounted tickets

I have a bi-polar autistic kid with PMS and two ex-husbands, if I couldn't handle people being mad at me by now I'd have no sanity left.

    discounted tickets

    Thanks!

    discounted tickets

I paid by card, so then I guess the question becomes do I sign my daughter's ticket (since I paid by card) or does she sign (since it's her ticket)?

    Who travels the greatest distance?

WTI is about an hour's drive from us in summer, I'd double that in winter weather.

    discounted tickets

It did ask for my AAA member number when I bought my tickets, and for obvious reasons I plan to have my AAA cards with us when we travel, but I'd be surprised if we get asked for them. I'd like to toss in another question: Are we expected to sign our tickets?

    G'day :)

Have a safe and fun trip, I'd love to hear how it goes.

    How long for mailed tickets?

They came in today! *happy dance*

Taboo to refill water glass onboard?

No, a show similar to Myth Busters busted that one unless the spigot is obviously dirty/contaminated. Let the water flow first then put the container underneath it, the flow gets rid of most germs.

    My first long train trip...

I roamed that other forum when I first came here but because of the age of the threads worried that they might be too out of date to be useful.

First thing you want to do on an Amtrak train

Lake Shore Limited in Waterloo first, otherwise we'll never get to CHI, I don't think my poor truck would take that kind of road abuse these days.

    How long for mailed tickets?

Reply from Amtrak is that they will be mailed this week :)

    Broadway Limited/Ft Wayne

Could be freight lines, I know freight still goes through Fort Wayne.

    Broadway Limited/Ft Wayne

Waterloo isn't that far from Fort Wayne, it's right outside it. ETA: Waterloo seriously needs better than an Amshack, IMHO. Capital Limited and Lake Shore Limited both run through Waterloo.

    How long for mailed tickets?

That kind of inconsistency irks me. I could understand someone ordering theirs later getting them sooner if their trip was sooner, but that's not the case. It just seems to me that (logically speaking) if I ordered in Jan for a June trip, and he ordered in Feb for a July trip, that I would have...

First thing you want to do on an Amtrak train

Well, it's our first trip, so I'm guessing here, but I'm going to go with stowing our luggage, finding a set of seats together, and then getting breakfast.

    How long for mailed tickets?

I'll start with their "Contact Us" form online, I don't have more cell phone minutes for a few more days. If they can't help me that way then by the time I know I'll have more minutes and can call. I wonder if it's because the rental car glitched on me that it delayed maybe? IDK, but thanks!

    Sunset Limited Rally in Tallahassee

Would love to hear how this goes. If memory serves it's not the loveliest (nor safest) neighborhood. At least it wasn't when I was growing up. Be nice to see rail service back in Tally, though, would make hometown visits easier. Be careful and good luck.
