    Business Class (Palmetto)

Wi-fi covers the whole train, not just the business class and cafe cars.

2 adults and 2 smalls kids on the overnight Silver Meteor

Like Jim said above, you'll need to call Amtrak (1-800-872-7245) to make that accommodation since it is system prohibited. You may also consider booking two roomettes (you probably could get two next to each other this far out), and it might even end up saving you a little cash in the process.

Lancaster Airport, Keystone Service, and some random thoughts.

Yes, I have. I really enjoyed the flight for the exact reasons that you gave as negatives, as most aviation enthusiasts would. How often can one fly on a piston-powered airliner these days? That's pretty cool to me. Airline manufacturers aren't really to blame for the interior setup of a given...

Lancaster Airport, Keystone Service, and some random thoughts.

Wow. Have you ever even flown on one of these birds? Those sure are some powerful assumptions to make if not. The age of an aircraft doesn't really mean too much when it is well maintained. Delta's DC-9s are decades old, for example.

How to handle the TSA? Take Amtrak!

I wasn't trying to imply that. Your point is valid.

Time frame for refunds to debit cards?

I'd give it a couple more days. It's only been 2 days since you cancelled. My credit card usually posts a refund in about 3 days.

    First Time Travel Info Please

Cab rides on Disney Monorails haven't been offered to guests since the 2009 incident that killed an operator when two monorails collided as far as I know.

Amtrak Ridership Numbers Oct to March 2012

The recession ended almost 2 years ago. Snap out of it already. Apparently Amtrak is doing something right with their ridership numbers seeing such an increase. They certainly haven't reached the point of decreasing returns. That being said, ridership doesn't really mean anything lot to the...

How to handle the TSA? Take Amtrak!

True statement. Upwards of 90% when I ran the numbers.

How to handle the TSA? Take Amtrak!

That is not anywhere close to a complete list. The primary airports in the US and its territories number 381, and there are a 121 non-primary commercial service airports. That list of current airports with the AIT machines and those slated to receive them is a mere 121. No majority by any means...

How to handle the TSA? Take Amtrak!

For such a new member here, your tone sure is surprising. I haven't flown through AGS in a couple years. I drove to the Masters, smart guy. Since a majority by definition is a subset of a group that consists of more than half of its population, yes, it is true that the majority of US airports...

How to handle the TSA? Take Amtrak!

That wasn't the point I was trying to make. I was trying to say that items that people see as "harmless" may not turn out to be harmless at all, as we found out with the case of box cutters on 9/11. Nail clippers have never been prohibited by the TSA. Spot on. The majority of airports (with the...

How to handle the TSA? Take Amtrak!

A step too far. Box cutters and utility knives with blades less than 4" were allowed/harmless on/before 9/11 and we see how that one turned out. Nail clippers are not prohibited. Oh heavens, you have to take off your shoes and jewelry, and then put them right back on again 30 seconds later. Big...

    174 > 43 connection too risky?

It is, but it is sold out on my date. Even if it wasn't, I'm not interested in taking a 4:35am train!
