    Niles Canyon Railway.

How easy is it to get to this from the Bart station at Fremont? Any buses? Taxi? Fair chance of getting murdered by the locals as soon as you step out on the street?

    Base fare and sleeper charge.

Looking at booking on the CZ from Sacramento to Denver in March, coach fare is shown as $77 and roomette charge is $173, but when I come to book the coach part goes to $96. I thought if you booked a room you got the lowest coach rate, or am I missing something?

    5 days in Switzerland.

Bit of a last minute plan, had some days with nothing much to do, the weather forecast was good, if cold, the Hotel Grishuna at Filisur had rooms available, and BA managed to offer a reasonable fare. Flight on time, near enough, to Zurich, but slightly delayed getting off due to the plane door...

    Canadian berths

In the VIA rail blurb, I assume that a berth for 1 is much the same as a roomette? Whats the deal with the some of the berths you have to step up to? How does that work, as I assume the sleepers are not double deckers?

Well, today I am going home. The weather has been fantastic, the railways have been the usual smart, punctual and well organised outfits they always are, the scenery stunning and the night facing the moonlit Matterhorn was beyond words. I will get round to writing a better trip report when I...

    LA questions.

Went past the LA Amtrak maintenance depot on Saturday and seen some covered freight vehicles with Amtrak Express on the side, whats the idea of those then? Still in use? Out of service?
