This is probably a really dumb question, but is there a garbage can in the bedrooms? Does the SCA empty it out daily, or do I ask for that?

We will have a bedroom on the CA Zephyr. Since meals are included, can I get our lunch to go from the dining car, and bring to the observation car?

We are leaving on the CZ (#6) from Emeryville to Chicago, then will transfer to the CL (#30) from Chicago to Washington DC. We will have a few small carry-on items (backpack, purse, etc.) but I want to check a large suitcase through to Washington DC so I don't have to deal with it in Chicago...

We'll be getting into CUS on the CZ around 2:50pm, then boarding the CL around 6:40pm. Is the water taxi (I know there are several companies) close enough to CUS? Can you do a round trip on the water taxi without getting off, and if so, how long does that take?

It sounds like meals in the dining car are pretty filling - can a passenger take a dessert "to go" to enjoy later in their roomette or sleeper? Or does everything need to be consumed at the table in the dining car? Thanks.

Does anyone know if the tips are put together to be shared by staff, or does each individual get to keep his/her tips? Thanks.
