Chase Amtrak Card and Apple Pay

For some reason, Chase is not supporting Apple Pay with their Mastercards, only Visa. Other banks with Mastercard support Apple Pay. I've called Chase and logged in some comments. The truth is that I'm using my Apple Pay cards more and more now. Thoughts? Anyone else interested in calling to...

    Vermonter Timetable Improvements

Hey guys, I just quickly checked the new timetable for the Vermonter and it appears to be almost identical to one from last summer. When will the 25-30 minutes of travel time reduction be added? Mike S.

What will be the first service to see travel time reductions from the

Simple question. Chicago - STL Service? Adirondack? Empire service (not likely since new 110mph track won't be installed until next year) Any ideas? Anyone seen first hand new/upgraded track being laid? Mike

Does Amtrak make money/revenue when customers use Guest Rewards Points

If figured I'd post here instead of in the GuestRewards section since this is more about Amtrak than the points. Basically, what I'm asking thinking: Is it good for Amtrak that people are traveling by rewards points? Now, certainly rewards points earned from Amtrak travel earns amtrak no...

Can you guys clarify the quad points on May 9th.....

Standards points are 2 points for each dollar spend on travel, minimum of 100 points per trip. This is the amtrak reward, NOT the credit card I'm talking about. So....a ticked for say $34 dollars would yeild 100 points normally (68 points is less than the 100 point minimum). But on train day...

Best Handheld GPS for Amtrak Travel

What is all of your experience with handheld GPS units on trains. I’ve got an older Garmin Etrex and I was shocked to see that they still sell it on their website. Seriously, this thing is like 5 years old. I did notice that it’s now called the Etrex-H and they mention that it has a high...

Could the 850M in the Senate Stimulus Bill get Cut?

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/02/gop...ries/index.html This doesn't mean its a done deal, but apparently giving 850M to amtrak to repair cars, signals, rails etc....is not going to add jobs according to the republicans. Why do they hate trains so much?

    Continential OnePass to AGR

Hey guys, I was thinking of joining Continental OnePass just so I can earn points to transfer to AGR. I have an opportunity to cash in some rewards dollars that will buy OnePass miles. Anyone know anything about OnePass? Can I do this even if I never take a flight? Mike S.

How do I get points for Apple (itunes) from the rewards mall?

I buy my songs through itunes and obviously that does not need a webpage (its direct from itunes), so I can I get points for buying songs?

Are we due for a points for shopping type promotion?

The last "triple play" ended at the end of the year. I did two of the three. Just didn't want to rent a car, i mean, I could have, but I was lazy. Plus that goes against my policy of not spending money just to get points. So..I guess were due for some non-travel promotion huh.

George Washington Bridge Rock Wall Stabilization

On my trip home from NYP to BUF last week, I noticed that they were working or have been working on the rock wall stabilization. Glad to see it moving forward. What will this save in travel time? Probably a few mins max, but ever bit helps. I think it would normally be 60mph through there, but I...

Sitting outside of ALB, waiting for the LSL to be split....

What a joke. I'm on a 6 hour late train! i know i know...bad weather. But..were late into Albany here by almost 6 hours. I would think the staff would be waiting by the tracks to split the train. But no, after about 30 mins of sitting here the conductor gets on says "you know...its cold, so the...

Can I take a snowboard with me on a checked baggage train?

I'm taking the LSL on Friday from BUF to NYP. Its a long story, but the last time a tired to take a snowboard with me it was NOT packed in a box and they would'nt accept it for baggage. Viewliner Ride Quality...I'm Impressed!

Hey guys, I suppose I should do a trip write up, but I've been busy. I took the LSL in a roomette from BUF to NY and back on the weekend of the 10th. I was very impressed with the viewliners. The roomette compartment is nice, private and fairly modern. The interior of the car as a whole is...

    New London, CT Station Taxis?

I'll be traveling to NLC next Friday from BUF. My destination is Foxwoods Casino/MGM. I'll be taking a regional from NYP to NLC and should arrive around 6:30 if all is on time. Anyone have any taxi experience at this station? I'm going to try to take one from the station to Foxwoods. It's only 9...

    Amtrak job..........

Hey guys, a little last minute here. Thinking of applying for a job with Amtrak. I don't think it can be done online...or am I wrong? I also can't seem to find the "job opportunity application" anywhere. I may just give them a call. Anybody applied before? Mike S.

Why did Amtrak shelve the P40's?

Why did they not continue to use them? Was it more for a "rainny day" kind of thing? The P42 doesn't seem that much better excpet more HP and a few more mph on the top end (but most routes are only going 79 or 90mph, with a few stretches of 100-110mph in New York State). So what gives? Mike S.

Don't forget, double points for some online mall merchants ending

Famous footwear is the big winner at 20 points per dollar! I NEED to buy sneakers/shoes (everyone does at some point) so this is a great deal. Probably will spend about $125 on a pair of sneaks and shoes. Thats over 2,000 points just for doing something I need to do anyway! Mike S.
